October in Grove: Old-Time Music and Tournament Days on Grand Lake

September 29, 2026

October offers two very different reasons to make a trip to Grove: a music gathering where the instruments are the attraction, and a fishing tournament where the suspense arrives at the scales. Put October 16–17 and October 22–24 on the calendar, then choose the weekend that suits your crew.

A weekend for the music

Grand Lake Festivals lists its Old-Time Gathering & Music Festival for October 16–17, 2026. Its event page describes music at Har-Ber Village, living-history demonstrations and a participatory contra dance. Celtic, bluegrass, swing and country are among the styles listed.

The appeal is the mix. You can plan around the music and still leave room for the museum rather than treating the visit as a single concert. For families with different interests, that gives the day somewhere to go between performances.

Check the daily program directly with Grand Lake Festivals at 918-786-8896 before setting a departure time. The organizer lists October 16–17, while some community listings carry inconsistent dates and older schedule wording. Admission and the final performance timetable should come from the organizer.

The following week, attention turns to Wolf Creek

The Phoenix Bass Fishing League event on Grand Lake runs October 22–24. Major League Fishing lists takeoff at 7:30 a.m. and weigh-in at 3:30 p.m. Central each day at Wolf Creek Park & Expo Center, 963 N. 16th Street in Grove.

If you are interested in watching, check public access and parking arrangements before arriving. An event schedule is useful for planning, but it does not establish which areas are open to spectators. Give anglers room around loading areas and leave launch lanes clear.

Build your own fishing day around it

For a recreational trip, start with the dated Grand Lake fishing report, then decide where to launch. A tournament result can be interesting reading without being a promise that the same approach will work on your next outing.

Keep one part of the trip simple: a short fishing session, a meal in Grove, or time for the music. There is no need to fit every stop into a single day. Our fishing guide and Grove planning page are useful starting points.
